Wacky Weather

The weather on the ranch lately has been wild! Last Sunday (Feb 12) we got snow! Last Saturday (Feb 18) we got flooding! One thing about it, we are so grateful for the moisture! Our drought situation is getting better and better with every drop!

A huge improvement from earlier this year

I tried to get a few pictures of the snow. It was impressive in real life, although the pictures don't do much justice. Typically in February, we get a skiff of snow. This stuff didn't stay on the ground, but it was sure pretty to watch it fall!

Wyatt checking out the weird white stuff falling from the sky. Meanwhile, his brother and sister were running around trying to catch flakes on their tongues

They were the nice, big puffy flakes!

This past Saturday was amazing! The rain started Friday evening and rained hard off and on all through the night. By Saturday morning, there were rivers running through the property. By Saturday afternoon, the rivers had run off, but that didn't stop the sky from opening up for a few impressive downpours. JL recorded aprox 3.5" in the rain gauge!!

We couldn't help but al gather on the porch to watch one of the most impressive storms late Saturday afternoon

Can you tell how much is pouring from the roof? The gutters couldn't even filter the rain away!

I love this kind of weather! But it is especially fun on the ranch!

Half Dozen!

Feb 17th - We got our first half dozen!

Izzy's Room Re-Re-Do

Remember about a month ago I got ambitious and painted Izzy's room? Well, her birthday was last week, and she got a few accessories that mixed things up again.

Mostly, horse sheets. And horse wall stickers to match. This gave me a whole new idea for how to lay out her walls.

That big empty purple wall is empty no more!

She seems to really love the change. She's a ginormous fan of the horse stickers!

Wiley

James and I spotted a coyote the other morning!

I was taking him to school, and it ran out in front of the van. It stopped for a while once it had crossed the road and watched us for a bit.

We were both so excited! Almost every night we hear coyotes, but none of us had seen one until then. Now, every morning on our way to school, James and I have our eyes open - ready to see another one! :)

A New Arrival

I know. I said no more animals. But see, June Bug was getting lonely. And we can't have a lonely, depressed horse on the ranch. So, we simply had to get a friend for her!

Introducing... Buffy! Our new Miniature Horse.

I took Izzy Doolittle out with me on Buffy's first day here. She helped me brush and welcome Buffy to her new home.

Buffy may only be 3 apples high, but she's big on adorableness and spirit!

She's a great addition to the ranch so far!
